Hidden centres “abound” in this year’s Christmas bakery offer from Marks & Spencer.

Included in the range is an Extremely Chocolatey Christmas Cabin cake with a hidden Christmas tree inside (1.3kg, £12); a Chocolate Christmas Pudding Cake filled with chocolate sixpence coins covered with soft icing (1.3kg, £12); and a Hand Decorated Belgian Chocolate and Salted Caramel Present Cake, with layers of Belgian chocolate cake filled with salted caramel and salted caramel buttercream encased in a hand-decorated milk chocolate box and topped with a milk chocolate bow (£20).

Sweet treats include nine mini Red Velvet Santa Hat Cupcakes, decorated with raspberry frosting and cream cheese (230g, £4); nine Chocolate & Cherry Viennese Kisses – biscuits with a rich cherry and Kirsch filling and dusted in sparkle (135g, £4); and nine Prosecco Viennese Kisses – all-butter mini Viennese biscuits with a prosecco frosting filling and sparkle dusting (135g, £4).

These are rounded off with its eight-month matured Vintage Christmas Pudding (800g, £12); along with an eight-month matured Jewelled Poinsettia  Christmas Cake (1.45kg £25); and a Hand Decorated Golden Holly Christmas Cake (1.45kg, £18).

Christmas breakfast treats include 10 mini croissants with smoked salmon and scrambled egg (280g, £7); while for canapés, the retailer is including 10 “dinky” hot and sour prawn doughnuts (240g, £7); fire-roasted tortilla chips dipped in dark chocolate (125g, £2); as well as 10 mini scallops in a champagne sauce housed in an all- butter puff pastry crescent (170g, £9); and Bucks Fizz crisps (150g, £2).

Three-bird roast sausage rolls in packs of 12 are offered at £5 for 420g.

Desserts include chocolate mousse pine cones with a hidden chocolate truffle centre and a dusting of gold lustre (six for £12); 12 Mini Santa Hats made from a crisp meringue base topped with raspberry jelly an fresh vanilla cream (115g, £4); and a chocolate and passion fruit star, comprising a chocolate sponge centre topped with white chocolate mousse and a passion fruit compôte filling, surrounded by chocolate sponge and a dark chocolate mousse filled with chocolate sauce (530g, £15).

The retailer’s Christmas Pudding Chocolate Dessert includes a milk chocolate mousse layered with chocolate sponge, raspberry and compôte, decorated with chocolate glaze (600g, £10); while its Chocolate and Mandarin Tree Dessert offers a selection of two chocolate sponge triangles - a crunchy chocolate layer and dark chocolate mousse or a mandarin jelly layer and mandarin mousse, both served with a raspberry coulis (610g, £12).

To accompany cheese courses, Marks & Spencer has devised four ciabatta breadsticks with Regato cheese and fennel (220g, £2.20).

Finally, among its gifting range, the retailer is offering Pairing Squares, featuring different ganache flavours encased in milk or dark chocolate. Flavours include smoked salt, almond praline & rosemary; pistachio, praline, rose & cardamom; balsamic peppered strawberries & star anise; and yuzu, ginger & Mexican honey.
