Doncaster-based family bakery The Topping Pie Company has struck a deal to supply into the cruise-line market.

Through a partnership with premier ship supplier Cavendish Ships Stores it will sell a range of its hot and cold products on cruise liners.

Products include multi-award-winning speciality pork pies such as the Yorkshire Farmer’s pork pie and the Regal Game and Poultry pork pie. Hot pies will also be available, including prime steak and pig’s kidney pie; cracked black pepper chicken with portobello mushroom; and Wiltshire ham pie.

It is the second bakery of late to get its sea legs after bakery giant Greggs announced the opening of its first branch on a ferry in October. The opening was part of an £800,000 revamp of Wightlink ferry, St Clare.

Matthew Topping, sales and marketing director at The Topping Pie Company, said: “Food, of course, is a crucial part of the cruise experience. Millions of people who travel on cruises every year expect memorable meals and top-quality food – we are excited to be working with Cavendish to serve up our premier pies to voyagers and to secure a slice of the high-end cruise market.”

Cliff Gregory, sales and marketing manager at Cavendish Ships Stores, said: “We source fine-quality items for the UK cruise market and always look for distinct, quality products that stand out in both taste and appeal. We are delighted that the award-winning range from Topping is in our portfolio.
