Cumbrian-based bakery Traybakes Ltd will be supplying 30,000 traybakes at the Wimbledon tennis Championships for a second consecutive year.

Traybakes, which set up the supply deal with Wimbledon’s catering team at the London trade show lunch! in 2015, has submitted its first delivery of 30,000 traybakes for the two-week competition – and they have proved to be popular among tennis players and fans.

“With only four days into Wimbledon, 75% of the stock has been sold and sales are up compared to last year,” said Judith Keating, marketing manager of Traybakes. “We use a wholesale distributor called Bluelease, as the stock-taking is done on-site at the tournament, which requests fresh stock to go in overnight.”

Keating added: “We had a few stats from last year from Wimbledon’s representative that 40,000 traybakes and 25,000 scones were eaten across the competition, which shows how popular our traybakes were.”

A second order is set to be on sale at the site in the upcoming days.

In June 2016, Traybakes doubled the size of its workforce and set its sights on national growth following an investment from a Regional Growth Fund supplied by the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.
