Baby food brand Ella’s Kitchen is moving into the frozen aisle with the launch of its Big Kids range, which includes a duo of frozen muffins.
The 14-product range has been developed with Tesco, and includes strawberry & banana and cheese & courgette muffins, which are sold in packs of eight and can be left out to defrost or put in the microwave. Also in the range are chicken and veggie nuggets, cod fishies and a sweet potato, squash, carrots and parsnips stir-in veggie boost.
Mark Cuddigan, CEO at Ella’s Kitchen, said: “We’re on a mission to provide children with delicious and organic food, so this a really exciting time for us as we move into a new category. Together with Tesco we saw the need for a convenient and tasty frozen food option for children and we are delighted to be the bringing this to the market.”
The range is the first that Ella’s Kitchen has created in the frozen food category, and has been designed with colourful packaging and kid-sized portions. Each recipe is made using organic and sustainably sourced ingredients, and is packed with vegetables, with no added sugar or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and offers a number of gluten-free options. It is available exclusively at Tesco.
The launch follows reports earlier this year that baked goods account for more of kids’ sugar intake than soft drinks.
