Lancashire-based Clayton Park Bakery has launched a Steak and Wainwright Golden Ale Pie in conjunction with brewery and pub operator, Marston’s, to coincide with British Pie Week.
Wainwright Golden Ale is the favourite tipple of managing director Andrew Hall, of James Hall & Co, which owns Clayton Park Bakery.
A trial range of the pies was created over Christmas and, after being given top marks by a tasting panel, they have now been officially launched in Spar shops across the north of England.
Barry Thomas, Clayton Park’s managing director, said: “Both Clayton Park Bakery and Wainwright’s have a long history in Lancashire, so it seemed a natural fit for them to come together in a pie.”
In 2014, Clayton Park Bakery won a contract to supply Lancashire Cricket Club with pies for the upcoming cricket season.
