Staff from Glenbervie-based food ingredients manufacturer Macphie have raised £450 for the charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland by taking part in The Beast, a 10km obstacle race.

Macphie has entered a team to take part in The Beast, held in Aberdeenshire, every year since its inception in 2013.

Staff also recently took part in Pedal for Scotland, a 45-mile cycle ride between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and raised over £1,000 for St. Andrew’s Hospice in the process.

Digital communications executive Louise Shankley, who took part in the run for Macphie, told British Baker: “It was really good fun and hard work, but we all made it across the finishing line.

“Macphie is a company that really encourages us to do as many events as possible to raise money for charity. That is part of our values as a company. I think it’s also good for teamwork, and it is good to get to know other people.”

Although the team has no future charity events confirmed at present, they plan to take part in more charitable challenges in the future.

In July, Macphie took part in the Pretty Muddy race to raise money for Cancer Research.
