Norfolk-based bakery Sponge Cakes has expanded its business by securing deals with sports clubs, royal palaces and attractions around the UK.
The company has secured licensing deals with high-profile football clubs, including Scottish side Celtic and Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
It also provides cakes to cafés and attractions across the UK, including Hampton Court, the Tower of London and Banham Zoo.
Sponge Cake head of sales Richard Fowler said: “We have been growing about 35%-40% year-on-year, but this year we have exceeded that within the first quarter.”
Sponge Cakes was established back in 2009 by Mark Joll and Iain Wilson, who also own several other businesses in the area.
The bakery sells more than 1,600 cakes a week and turns over £1m every year, with a staff total of just 20 people.
The company’s website has also taken off, with up to 600 cakes a week ordered for birthdays, celebrations and special occasions such as Valentine’s Day.
