Woof you believe it? Nottingham-based Doughnotts is selling doughnuts for dogs.
Costing 50p, the mini ‘DogNuts’ are made from wholemeal flour, oats and organic smooth peanut butter.
Doughnotts owners Megan Scadden and Wade Smith, both pooch-lovers, operate hound-friendly stores in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby city centres and thought the treats would be pawfect for their furry friends.
Made by Alvaston-based Ruffles Dog Bakery, the handmade treats are topped with canine-suitable white chocolate or carob and coloured using turmeric, beetroot, wheatgrass and spirulina.
“Thanks to our collaboration with Ruffles Dog Bakery, they can enjoy a doughnut too,” said marketing manager Daniel Byrne.
“The reception has been incredible, we almost sold out on the first day we introduced them.”
Doughnotts is well known for its quirky creations. At the start of the year it produced a 14-inch, 15-serve doughnut resembling a pepperoni pizza. Featuring seven vanilla fudge doughnuts with a shortbread crumb, the sweet treat cost £40.
