Scottish Bakers has launched a new ‘Hero Products’ brochure to assist its exporter members in selling bakery products all over the world.
The glossy brochure showcases a range of Scottish export products, including gluten-free mojito cheesecake from Aulds Delicious Desserts, Kirriemuir gingerbread from Bells Food Group and Scottish hand-baked oatcakes from Maclean’s Highland Bakery as well as products from Brownings the Bakers, McGhee’s Family Bakers, and Lightbody Ventures.
Scottish Bakers chief executive Alan Clarke explained that each of the nine members of the Scottish Bakers’ export group put forward four products for the brochure, none of which overlapped with anyone else’s.
Scottish Bakers recently launched its export group, chaired by Martin Lightbody of Lightbody Ventures. It hopes to recruit a further six companies to it to bring its membership up to 15. Members pay an additional £1,000 annual subscription to be part of the group, Clarke explained.
Speed Dating
Scottish Bakers’ export group also took part in a ‘Showcasing Scotland’ event at the Gleneagles Hotel last week, offering more than 100 Scottish food and drink companies the opportunity to individually meet in a ‘speed dating’ environment with more than 120 UK and international buyers en route to the Anuga trade fair in Germany.
Some 1,200-plus individual meetings took place over the two days and substantial business was secured in both domestic and overseas markets, said Clarke.
