The fudges are gluten-, dairy- and soya-free and come in four flavours: Madagascan Vanilla; Chocolate; Stem Ginger and Chocolate; and Chocolate and Orange. They come in 90g packs and are marketed under the company’s Melting Pot brand.
Blackthorn sells its products through a variety of outlets including delis and petrol-station forecourts as well as through its own online shop, where the new free-from packs retail for £2 each.
Dorothy Bittles, director of Blackthorn, said: “We saw a developing opportunity particularly in Britain for a range of products that are made without dairy, gluten and soya, and decided to invest in creating products to meet this demand.
“Response to the new range has been immensely encouraging. We pride ourselves in producing high quality handmade fudge made in open pots in the traditional way.
