High street coffee chain Caffè Nero has teamed up with Yoyo Wallet to enable use of its mobile wallet at all UK and Ireland stores.
Yoyo said the partnership represented a significant move onto the UK high street for its business.
It is the culmination of a relationship which started in April 2014 when Yoyo Wallet won the Duke of York’s inaugural Pitch at the Palace event, which gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to accelerate the development of their business. Yoyo ended its pitch by requesting an audience with Caffè Nero founder Gerry Ford.
Ford said he was delighted to partner a “young, dynamic” company like Yoyo.
“We are hoping the new app we are working on together will allow Caffè Nero to take a leap forward in providing our customers with a rich experience” he said.
Yoyo Wallet is live in 50% of UK universities, including Imperial College London and University of Birmingham, and more than 100 corporate locations such as Visa and PwC.
In September, former Wagamama chief operating officer Glyn House joined Caffè Nero as its managing director.
Caffè Nero operates 570 sites, but under the guidance of the House, the chain has ambitions for that to rise to 750 in the UK.
