Country Style Foods has acquired the assets of the recently collapsed Ixxy’s Bagels for an undisclosed sum.

The Leeds-based supplier to in-store bakeries and bake-off operations purchased plant and equipment earlier this month after the London-based Ixxy’s went into administration.

Ixxy’s, which had been based in Park Royal, west London previously produced Weight Watchers’ bagels and scones under licence for Duchy Originals. It was placed into administration with Leonard Curtis in October, following a period of difficult trading, and all its staff have been made redundant.

Joe Wood, managing director of family-run Country Style Foods, told British Baker: “The purchase bolsters our existing well-established bagel business, which is focused on supply to supermarket in-store bakeries and bake-offs.

“This is a great opportunity for Country Style as the purchase of this business gives us additional capacity in an area in which we are already strong.”

Country Style Foods has production sites in Leeds, Grimsby, Fleet, Stockton and Peterlee.
