Heart of England Co-operative store colleague uses the Cybake ISB system

Cybake ISB software has been rolled out at Heart of England Co-operative retail stores to optimise freshness and availability of food made on-site.

Founded in 1832, the Coventry-based business operates 38 Co-operative Food outlets across the West Midlands, Warwickshire, South Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire. These all feature in-store bakery and hot food counters.

Heart of England Co-operative was said to have chosen Cybake ISB after looking for a solution that could manage production in these sections, cut their waste and increase their sales. The software platform uses real-time sales data and forecasting to produce specific plans for optimal production at each of the stores, including multiple waves throughout the day.

Store colleagues are shown what items to make or bake and when, along with full preparation instructions on tablets. At the same time, the system shows head office exactly how multi-wave production is progressing across the stores, with key KPIs and clear, accurate reports.

Amogn the supermarkets, C-stores, forecourt operators and retail bakery chains that use Cybake ISB in the UK are Marks & Spencer, Cooplands Bakery, Wenzel’s Bakery, and forecourts operator Park Garage Group for its Bakery 79 concept outlets. Cybake also has a fast-growing user base across North America, Australia, and Asia.

Heart of England Co-operative’s COO Paul Strong revealed that hot food-to-go sales had increased by 20% within weeks of deploying Cybake ISB. “A big factor in this rise was compliance and buy-in from store colleagues, ensuring that they made what was needed at the right times,” he said.

Cybake was able to enact a fast implementation of its system thanks to the help of the Heart of England Co-operative team, according to Cybake CEO Ali Lyons, who took over leadership of the York-based software company in April 2025. “I am happy to see that it’s already producing impressive results,” she commented, adding that “Heart of England Co-operative has a clear food-to-go strategy, and using Cybake ISB will underpin this exciting plan perfectly.”

Last month, Cybake completed a full integration with Dill labelling software to bring labelling and production data together in one connected system. It also recently launched an extension for its bakery software that enables customers to order custom cakes, and integrated with Vita Mojo’s point-of-sale software.
