Children’s baking company BKD is to appear on Dragons’ Den this Sunday (24 September).
Airing at 9pm, the episode will see founder Adelle Smith pitch to five dragons, including new investors Jenny Campbell and Tej Lalvani, in the hope of securing investment for her business.
BKD, which specialises in children’s baking kits, was launched in May 2015 and the business has grown rapidly, with revenues of £151,000 in 2017 and over 30,000 units being sold. The kits are stocked in more than 160 stores across the UK and Ireland, including John Lewis, Lakeland and Moonpig.
In 2016, Smith launched her first book, Baked, which contains more than 20 family focused recipes such as Oreo Easter Chick Pops and Minibeast Sugar Cookies.
BKD isn’t the first bakery to appear on Dragons’ Den, although others, including Rule of Crumb, a gluten-free business, and Bad Brownie have had varying success.
