Oxfordshire business Orange Bakery has been named best food and drink producer in the National Muddy Stilettos Awards.
The awards are run by lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos, which describes itself as ‘a trusted local guide for cosmopolitan women outside London looking to get more out of where they live’.
Twenty-seven national awards were given out in categories including Best Art Space, Best Restaurant and Best Yoga Studio (see below). The national awards followed Muddy Stilettos readers voting for their favourite independent businesses by region.
“The quality of the regional award winners has been so high over the years that it made sense to recognise and celebrate ‘the best of the best’ with a National Muddy Stilettos Awards 2022,” said Muddy Stilettos editor-in-chief Hero Brown.
“Massive congratulations to all 27 National Muddy Stilettos Award winners. You really are inspirational businesses, and your amazing creativity, passion and hard work has made you worthy winners.”
Based in the Oxfordshire village of Watlington, Orange Bakery is a father and daughter business that is run by Alex and Kitty Tait and specialises in sourdough bread and pastries.
The duo began baking bread for therapeutic reasons after Kitty had to drop out of school due to illness. The family got a Rofco oven and Kitty started doing pop-ups before they opened their shop.
Alex and Kitty have since written a book together called Breadsong: How Baking Changed Our Lives and have launched bread kits.
