Adrian Oliver from The Kernow Sausage Company has won The Great Sausage Roll Off 2019.
Running for the seventh year, the annual competition was hosted by award-winning beer and food writer Melissa Cole at The Red Lion, Barnes.
Fifteen top chefs from across the country unveiled their sausage roll creations in front of a panel of expert judges including Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer, Andrew Clarke from Brunswick House, Calum Franklin from Holborn Dining Room, and Masterchef winner Jane Devonshire.
Oliver was crowned winner with his sausage roll of Cornish pork, bacon and sage with mustard mayo.
Second place went to Charlie Hodson from Charlie’s Norfolk Food Heroes & the Art of Butchery. His sausage roll was made from pork meat from four independent Norfolk Butchers and had a hint of juniper.
Third place was awarded to Phil Harrison, chef and owner at Bears Ice Cream Company.
Each competitor supplied samples of their entries, which were auctioned off to the crowd in aid of Hospitality Action. Combined with a range of other auction items, the event raised nearly £2,000 for the charity.
