Swedish bakery firm Almondy has been awarded halal certification for its range of almond-based tarta.
The firm says this enables operators to cater for the UK’s two million-strong Muslim population.
Andrew Ely, managing director, Almondy, said: “The halal certificate will enable operators to take steps to cater and profit from a market forecast to grow by more than 20% over the next decade (source - International Halal Integrity Alliance) without making drastic changes to sweet menus.”
The products have been approved as halal by the Islamic Information Society.
