The forthcoming marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has taken the nation by storm, with a flurry of products hitting the market in time for their nuptials on 19 May.
Bakers are among those whipping up delicious royalty-inspired treats, with a strong focus on lemon and elderflower flavours – the ones Violet Bakery owner Claire Ptak is using in the couple’s cake. Frozen specialist Iceland has even released an £8 ‘copycat’ cake for its customers.
Afternoon tea also features heavily, as well as goods featuring the smiling faces of the couples. Here’s what’s in-store:
Hilton on Park Lane – Afternoon Tea
Wedding dress? Check. Diamonds? Check. Wedding cake? Check. Did we mention the fact that all of these are edible? They’re part of a special afternoon tea at the London Hilton on Park Lane, which is being served from the 14 to 20 May. The spread, which costs £39, features an elderflower macaron wedding cake, white chocolate flower cupcake and blackcurrant cushion with vanilla diamond jelly. Scones are also on the menu, with plain, fruit, chocolate chip and marshmallow varieties available.
Dunn’s Bakery – Doughnuts
Ahead of National Doughnut Week, which takes place from the 12 to 19 May, Dunn’s Bakery in Crouch End has created special-edition doughnuts. Filled with the classic British strawberry jam and cream, they are topped with gold or white icing and edible photos of Harry and Meghan’s faces.
Maître Choux – Lemon & Elderflower Éclairs
This tribute to Meghan and Harry’s d-éclair-ation of love comes from London-based Maître Choux. Like others on this list, it uses the refreshing (and now royal) flavours of lemon and elderflower with a sprinkling of white edible pearls and a dusting of gold leaf. Available for a month, they cost £5.80.
Biscuiteers – Royal Wedding Luxe Biscuit Tin
Biscuiteers has created a limited-edition tin filled with hand-iced biscuits in a myriad of regal shapes including: the royal coach, a designer wedding dress, engagement ring and three-tiered wedding cake. The commemorative tin includes 16 biscuits in total. Biscuiteers has also added the royal couple to its famous Jolly Gingers gingerbread range.
Warrens Bakery – US-inspired afternoon tea
Forget whether it’s cream or jam first, where do you put the peanut butter? Creating an American twist on a traditional English afternoon tea, Warrens Bakery is offering customers the option to put peanut butter and jam on plain or fruit scones in a nod to the PB&J sandwiches beloved on the other side of the Atlantic. The PB in question is Freda’s Peanut Butter with Cornish Sea Salt, which is handmade in Cornwall. The cream tea purists will probably have something to say about that.
Hummingbird Bakery – Royal Wedding Selection Box
Treats fit for royalty, that’s what Hummingbird Bakery says of its royal wedding celebration cakes and cupcakes. The range is made to authentic American recipes, according to the bakery, and includes a Royal Wedding Cupcake Selection Box, a Rustic Wedding Cake and a Rainbow Sprinkles Wedding Cake.

Paul – Royal Wedding Cake
Paying homage to Meghan and Harry’s cake, Paul has created a Royal Wedding Cake for its London customers. The signature flavours of lemon and elderflower have been infused in a delicate cream filling between layers of jaconde sponge, topped with white chocolate, cream and a lemon jelly. It’s available in a sharing size for £21.95 or as an individual cake for £3.95.
Mr Kipling – Bridal Fancies
Premier Foods-owned Mr Kipling has revamped some of its classic treats ahead of the special day. Complete with Union Jack packaging, the range consists of Bridal Fancies, Princely Pies (apple) and Wedding Whirls with jam and cream. They’re available exclusively in Asda with an rsp of £1.00. The rest of Mr Kipling’s range will also get new packaging.
Gü – Lemon & Elderflower Cheesecakes
Gü has taken inspiration from the aforementioned wedding cake with limited-edition Lemon & Elderflower cheesecakes. Developed by Gü head chef Fred Ponnavoy, they are described as offering an “explosion of spring flavours” made up of an elderflower cheesecake topping, zesty lemon curd and a crumbly biscuit base.
Walkers Shortbread – Commemorative Shortbread Tin
Shortbread fans can commemorate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with this commemorative tin from Walkers. Priced at £9.00, it comes filled with 24 Union Jack shortbread biscuits, with a photo of the happy couple on the tin.
