Lanark-based Border Biscuits has unveiled a new chocolate and ginger snack bar.
The Dark Chocolate Ginger Bars are made from the same recipe as its Dark Chocolate Ginger biscuit, The Famously Fiery One.
Individually wrapped, the bars are available in multi-packs of six and contain 113 calories. They meet the demand for convenience in increasingly busy lifestyles, said the company.
Last year, Border Biscuits invested £3.5m in its Dark Chocolate Ginger biscuits. The offering was crowned the UK’s favourite chocolate-covered ginger biscuit, with sales reaching over £5m.
“The new Dark Chocolate Ginger Bar is an exciting step in the evolution of the Border Biscuits brand. It’s our first individual snack bar, which comes in response to the ever-changing habits of our consumers,” said John Cunningham, managing director at Border Biscuits.
The biscuit bars are available initially in Scottish Sainsbury’s stores and online before rolling out across other retailers and wholesalers throughout 2020.
“At Border Biscuits, we continuously aim to craft our product range to suit the emerging needs of our customers and introducing new shoppers to the brand, so the new bars will be a welcome addition to our award-winning offering,” Cunningham added.
In 2019, Border removed over 90% of plastic from its retail packaging to reduce its carbon footprint. With an annual turnover of £17.9m, it donates 10% of its profits to local charities and community projects.
