Coughlans Bakery says its new Vegan Bacon and Beef Wellington has been an instant hit.
Coughlans Bakery says its new Vegan Bacon and Beef Wellington sold out by 3pm on its launch day of 19 November.
The 26-shop bakery chain partnered with vegan meat brand This to create the footlong Wellington with mushroom-based ‘beef’, herbs, spices and vegan puff pastry.
Director Sean Coughlan commented: “This took me four months to develop, it’s turned out to be an incredible product. The addition of This Isn’t Bacon gives it that extra dimension to make the perfect pairing. We baked double what we had planned on the first weekend after launch and sold out.”
Coughlans also launched a vegan bacon savoury last month, made with the same vegan bacon, which has become a top seller he added.
The chain also offers three types of vegan sausage roll and a vegan steak bake.
The Wellington is priced at £12 and serves six. Coughlans is taking orders for the product, which is sold frozen.
