Ham Hock Sourdough Melt

Bakery supplier Délifrance has launched a new frozen range of premium hot sandwiches designed for hotels, bakery-to-go, QSRs, and coffee shops.

The six-strong line-up – comprising three ciabattas, two toasties, and a wrap – is positioned as a convenient, high-quality option to deliver satisfaction throughout the day, said Délifrance.

There are traditional favourites such as the Ham & Mature Cheddar Ciabatta (190g), made with Farmhouse ham, mature Cheddar cheese, and Dijon bechamel on rustic ciabatta; as well as the Ham & Cheese Toastie (175g) featuring Emmental cheese, ham and toasted white bread with a luxury cheese topping.

For a more indulgent offer, the Ham Hock Sourdough Melt (238g) contains pulled Irish ham, melting mature Cheddar, and wholegrain mustard on sourdough with a Cheddar and mozzarella lid.

Two more choices of sandwiches on rustic ciabatta include the Mediterranean Mozzarella Ciabatta (180g), filled with mozzarella, cheddar, Mediterranean vegetables, basil pesto, and tomatade; and the Cajun Chicken Ciabatta (180g), comprising seasoned chicken, grilled bell peppers and sweetcorn, and a spiced Cajun sauce.

Completing the range is the All Day Breakfast Wrap (172g), which has sausage, bacon, hash brown, and tomato-based Ballymaloe relish wrapped inside tortilla bread.

Délifrance UK marketing & innovation director Stéphanie Brillouet noted her company’s latest research shows that the UK sandwich market is experiencing a period of renewed growth, driven by rising consumption, expanding dayparts, and evolving expectations around quality and format. “It’s a market defined by both comfort and exploration, so we’ve focused on offering premium, familiar favourites as well as some more artisan options like the ham hock sourdough melt,” she said.

As revealed in our recent feature report, the premium sandwiches market in the UK has shown compound annual growth rate of 29% since 2022, compared to just 3% for standard sandwiches over the same period [Circana data to 25 January 2026].
