Fatherson Bakery has rolled out new cupcakes, with 10p from every purchase donated to the NHS.
Its Butterfly Vanilla Cakes comprise a pack of six mini sponge cakes with a vanilla flavoured filling, white icing topping and an edible Union Jack flag.
The cupcakes will be rolled out nationwide today at Co-op, Budgens, Nisa, Londis and Spar at an rrp of £2.50.
“As British bakers, we wanted to give something back to our national heroes who are saving lives day in, day out,” said Laurence Smith, managing director at Fatherson Bakery.
“This is just a little way for all of us at Fatherson Bakery – our artisan bakers, our warehouse and delivery team, our administrative teams and senior staff – to say thank you for doing such a courageous job. So let’s celebrate the NHS and key workers together.”
Consumers can also purchase the cupcakes via the bakery’s new consumer delivery website, Direct Deliver.
The website was launched to help ease shopper challenges during Covid-19 and get food delivered to the most vulnerable people in the community, said the company.
Offerings including a select range of cakes, fruit and vegetable boxes and non-perishable essentials, which will be delivered by the bakery to consumers’ doors.
Fatherson has also put into place health and safety measures following the government’s guidelines to protect shoppers and its workforce from Covid-19, it added.
