Ginsters is tapping into the growing trend of flexitarianism with the launch of its Cornish Cheddar & Caramelised Onion pasty.
Available from 29 December for £2.10, the pasty has been created alongside Michelin-starred chef Chris Eden, who also helped Ginsters create the Mexican Slice last month.
The pasty comprises caramelised onions and spring onions with a hint of wholegrain mustard, as well as a blend of Cornish extra mature and mature Cheddar.
“Our Cheese & Onion pasty has always had strong consumer appeal but the development work with award-winning Cornish born chef Chris Eden has added a new dimension and the result is the new Cornish Cheddar & Caramelised Onion pasty with a special Cornish twist,” said Ginsters brand manager Chris Parkinson.
As well as the pasty, Ginsters will also unveil two new sandwiches from 10 January – Hunter’s Chicken and Firecracker Chicken – both priced at £3. The Hunter’s Chicken sandwich combines chicken breast with smokey-flavoured bacon, reduced-fat mayonnaise and barbeque sauce on a malted grain bread.
The Firecracker sandwich combines chicken with spinach, red pepper, sour cream and coriander with Piri Piri sauce and chilli mayonnaise on seeded tomato bread.
The launches will be supported by point of sale and in-store initiatives.
