Pastry specialist Higgidy has unveiled a raft of NPD including a duo of Little Lattices.
The lattices are available in two flavours – Sweet Potato Katsu Curry and Spinach, Feta & Red Pepper. The former comprises butternut squash puff pastry packed with sweet potato and cauliflower in a mildly-spiced katsu curry sauce, topped with black onion seeds. The latter features butternut squash puff pastry packed with spinach, Greek feta, red peppers and a hint of mint and lemon, hand-topped with poppy seeds.
Both flavours will be sold at Waitrose and Booths from 19 April, and at Tesco from 29 May. Ocado will offer the Katsu Curry variety and Sainsbury’s will stock the Spinach, Feta & Red Pepper Lattices from 19 April.
The company said it was ’leading the way in savoury snacking’ with its new lattices, which were perfect for picnics, lunchtime bites and mid-afternoon snacking.
“We’ve seen some strong success with our recent snacking launches and we expect that our lovely new Little Lattices will drive even more growth both for us as a brand and for the category,” said Higgidy CEO Rachel Kelley.
The company’s savoury muffins saw value growth of 62%, adding £1m in the 52 weeks post launch. Higgidy added its vegan dinky rolls and vegan mini muffins in 2022. It’s vegetable-focused approach to NPD has resulted in over 75% of its range currently veggie or vegan.
The springtime NPD is accompanied by the return of a popular quiche flavour plus a seasonal guest quiche launch.
The Roasted Tomato & Basil Quiche (rsp £3.50/155g) is a new seasonal special which ’brings a taste of summer’ to lunch and dinner plates. Seeded spelt shortcrust pastry is filled with spinach, sautéed onion, creamy béchamel and free-range egg, hand-topped with sustainably-sourced smoked salmon. It’s available now at Tesco and Ocado, Booths from 19 April, Waitrose from 26 April, and Morrisons from 8 May.
Higgidy’s Smoked Salmon & Spinach Little Quiche (rsp £4.85/400g), meanwhile, is making a permanent return to Higgidy’s menu. It comprises seeded spelt shortcrust pastry with basil, mature Cheddar cheese and a free range egg filling, hand-topped with roasted tomatoes and a sun blush tomato crumb. The quiche is available now at Tesco, Ocado, Booths and Sainsbury’s, and at Waitrose from 26 April.
