Shipley-based manufacturer Just Desserts has launched a vegan cake range aimed at independent cafés, coffee shops and delis.
The products made their debut at the Harrogate Fine Food Show earlier this year, and Just Desserts has already secured customers, including Bloomfield Square Coffee Shop in Otley and The Northern Tea House in Huddersfield.
Northern Tea House director Kevin Chatham said his business made its own desserts on-site, including vegan scones, but added it could be difficult to produce everything in his small kitchen.
“Vegan products have come a long way and, in some cases, it is impossible to differentiate from a traditional recipe when taste-testing them,” he added. “We are delighted with the consistently high quality range.”
The new Just Desserts line-up comprises four core flavours: Chocolate Cake; Blueberry & Lemon; Bakewell Tart Cake; and a Neapolitan Cake.
Just Desserts managing director James O’Dwyer said the business was now looking at launching a vegan traybake.
“We are keen to tap into this market and, with the likes of Veganuary continuing to inspire more people to try vegan products, we are confident our new cakes will hit the spot,” he added.
