Ministry of Pudding, the Torbay-based pudding manufacturer, is halfway to achieving five-year trading targets in its first year of opening.
Yesterday (19 August) marked its first year of trading and it is now producing 150,000 to 200,000 puddings a week. It had planned for production of 400,000 products a week within five years.
The business has invested £100,000 in new kit to cope with business growth, which is set to arrive in the next six weeks. Chris Ormrod, managing director, said the extra equipment still leaves plenty of space to expand further.
He said: “It was at 2.50pm a year ago that the first pudding came safely off the line and we have now produced around six million puddings. We are tracking towards 10 million at the turn of the year.
“We are halfway to achieving our objectives within a year.”
Ministry of Pudding is the sister site of Ministry of Cake, which Ormrod bought back from convenience food producer Greencore last May.
