More Food, part of the Cake Brands group, has donated more than a thousand cakes to charity to help celebrate the 70th birthday of the National Health Service.

The Sussex-based business supplied raspberry Victoria sponge and chocolate fudge cakes free of charge to hospital tea parties in the county after being contacted by Love Your Hospital, a dedicated charity for the Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

A team of 11 bakery staff worked on the project, with two baking, two icing and finishing, one cutting and six packing a total of 1,200 cakes. More Food received specially made labels for the packaging featuring the Love Your Hospital logo.

“We feel privileged to have been asked to be a part of the celebration and share our delicious cakes with the patients of the local hospitals,” said More Food managing director Jayson Schieb. “We’re really excited to help with similar upcoming charity events in the future”.

More Foods was rescued from administration in a pre-pack deal last year.
