Morrisons has unveiled a Christmas dinner pasty that contains a starter, main course and dessert.
The limited-edition pasty is handmade, filled and crimped in Cornwall, and features an arrow on top that tells consumers which end to eat first. The three courses – each contained in one third of the pasty – are:
- Starter - Ardennes pâté, sweet apple chutney and Melba toast
- Main - British turkey with sage and onion stuffing, potato, pigs in blankets, cranberries and a creamy sauce
- Dessert - Christmas pudding with brandy sauce
Morrisons said the Christmas Dinner Pasty was inspired by the original Cornish Pasties, which combined savoury and sweet parts. They were carried underground by tin miners and contained meat and vegetables in one end, and jam or fruit in the other.
The pasty will be available from Morrisons Pie Shop counters from today (10 December) until Christmas (rsp £.2.50).
