Oatcake manufacturer Nairn’s has expanded its gluten-free offering with two new snacking ranges – Pop Oats and Oat Bars.
The Oat Bars are available in three flavours – Apple & Cinnamon, Cacao & Orange and Mixed Seeds & Protein – with an rsp of 89p for one or £2.49 for a four-pack. The gluten-free flapjack-style bars contain 40% less sugar than the average fruit/cereal bar according to Nairn’s, and are high in fibre.
Pop Oats are an oat-based popped snack designed to compete with other popped-style crisps. They are available in Salt & Vinegar, BBQ and Sour Cream & Chive with an rsp of 80p. Each 20g bag contains 83 calories, is a source of fibre and has 60% less fat than regular fried crisps, Nairns noted.
The new products contain no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives and are all suitable for vegans with the exception of the Sour Cream & Chive Pop Oats, which are suitable for vegetarians.
“Demand for free-from products has never been higher, and research shows growth from younger shoppers who are looking for convenient and healthy snacking options to consume ‘on the go’, which don’t compromise on taste,” said Nairn’ managing director Martyn Gray.
“Both new product ranges have performed well in consumer research and we are confident that they will bring something new to the gluten-free category.”
