The National Cupcake Championships bring out the very best in cupcake bakers – and now you get a chance to look behind the scenes.

This video outlines what happened on the day of the Championships – which saw Mrs B’s Cakes steal the show with a Wild Blueberry & Belgian Chocolate cupcake in the Made with Chocolate category, a Chambord Bramble

Berry number in the Made with Alcohol category and a Spiced Apple and Blackberry cupcake in the Classic category, which took the overall award.

Finalists at the event, which was sponsored by Barry Callebaut and Hello and.., were also treated to a series of chocolate masterclasses.

Commenting on the Championships, Martyn Leek, editor of British Baker, said: “All of our winners demonstrated superb skills and innovation. And Champion Mrs B’s Cakes, owned by Helen Bollen, impressed the judges with her range.

“But these Championships and National Cupcake Week are nothing without you: the bakers.”
