The latest bakery innovation comes from Bakezilla’s Bespoke Cakes, and is set to take Easter by storm.
Bakezilla’s founder Becs Sheard unveiled her ChocScotch Egg on Facebook earlier this month, to a rapturous reception. The picture was picked up by popular webpage The Food Bible, where it was liked more than 30,000 times and shared by over 21,000 Facebook food fans.
There’s a Cadbury’s Creme Egg, there are Mini Eggs and, of course, there is cake.
“It just went mental,” said Sheard. “I picked up and adapted the idea from elsewhere and when I put them on my Facebook page, I had 150 orders from 6pm to going to bed that night.”
With bakeries in Long Eaton near Nottingham and Mirfield in West Yorkshire, Bakezilla’s Bespoke Cakes was set up by Sheard in 2014 after the birth of her daughter, Alana, as she wanted to spend more time at home with her.
Collect on Good Friday
Sheard is a self-taught baker, and said that she learnt “simply through trial and error”.
The ChocScotch Eggs are £3 each, or two for £5, with collection on Good Friday, from either Mirfield or Long Eaton.
