New York Bakery Co has released a freeze-thaw version of its cheese bagel for out-of-home (OOH) outlets.
Following the NPD launch in September, New York Bakery Co has acted in response to consumer demand for cheese-based products.
Research shows (MCA Eating Out panel 2016) that cheese is the number one non-meat sandwich filling for bread products and one of the best-selling flavours for bagels in the US.
Philippa Norton, marketing manager for New York Bakery Co, said that launching the product to the OOH sector was a natural step for the company.
“Cheese takes the top spot as the all-time most requested bagel flavour by consumers and we know that availability of different flavours is one of the main triggers for purchase,” she said.
“Cheese topped sandwiches are appearing in coffee shops and food-to-go outlets on the high street and as bagels are the second fastest growing item at lunchtime (MCA Eating Out panel 2016), launching a cheese bagel into OOH will align with this trend and offer an accessible and in-demand flavour that consumers will love.”
The cheese bagels are available from JJ Foodservice, Bidvest Foodservice and Brakes wholesalers.
