Phat Pasty Co has won the Cornish Pasty Company category at this year’s World Pasty Championships.
Its winning Traditional Cornish Pasty was made with British Farm Assured beef, potato, swede and onion with seasoning, wrapped in a shortcrust pastry.
Competitors attended from around the world, including Canada, Austria and the US. A team of more than 40 judges, led by head judge Dave Meneer, assessed more than 200 pasties.
“We are absolutely thrilled to win this prestigious award and it allows us to showcase the best of Cornwall and the Cornish pasty across the UK,” said Laura Clark, co-founder and Phat Controller of the Phat Pasty Co of Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.
Phat was started 14 years ago by husband and wife team Paul and Laura Clark, working from their home kitchen and delivering in a converted campervan to local businesses and events.
