Pret A Manger has expanded its range of salads, soups and sandwiches for winter.

Launching into stores soon, the menu additions include Chef’s Special sandwiches, protein-based salads and a range of 12 soups – including six vegan-friendly – which will change daily.

To mark the return of its winter soup menu, Pret has also launched an Augmented Reality (AR) effect on its Facebook page. Using their camera on the Facebook app, customers can don a bobble hat in the snow, and blow on a steaming cup of Pret soup to reveal the four soup flavours of the day. The AR experience pulls in real time information to provide customers with each day’s menu and the design of the effect changes daily to complement the flavours of the soup.

The sandwiches which feature as part of Pret’s Chef’s Specials range are making a comeback after the business received tweets from customers asking for their return, it said. The special flavours will be available until Monday 4 March and include a meat, vegetarian and vegan option:

  • Veggie New Yorker on Rye (rsp £2.99): Mature Cheddar with mustard mayo, gherkins, pickled cabbage and carrot, finished with rocket and sandwiched between rye and caraway bread.
  • Classic New Yorker on Rye (rsp £3.79): Salt beef and crunchy gherkins, topped with crispy onions, fresh spinach, pickled cabbage and carrot, and finished with mustard mayo on rye and caraway bread.
  • Chakalaka Wrap (rsp £3.25): Spicy chakalaka beans with red pepper, roasted butternut squash, baby spinach, a dollop of non-dairy coconut yoghurt alternative.

Pret has also announced the return of its Super Greens & Reds sandwich (rsp £2.99). The sandwich comprises slices of avocado covered with Pret’s tapenade made of roasted red peppers and cherry tomatoes. Finished with crunchy fresh red pepper, kalamata olives and spinach.
