Three baguettes, two wraps, a toastie, a cookie, and a tart comprise the new bakery items launched at Pret A Manger stores as part of its Spring menu.
Among them are a couple of chef’s specials, which are rotated regularly to ensure innovation, attract new customers and excite existing ones. Some new plant-based options form the latest additions to Pret’s vegan range following those debuted in January, while one is back by popular demand at airport outlets.
“It’s exciting to launch so many new lighter and brighter options this spring,” said Katherine Bagshawe, UK food & coffee director at Pret.
“We’re always inspired to create exciting products using global flavours and seasonal ingredients, and this year is no different with the introduction of our bespoke satay sauce to accompany new salad, baguette, and wrap recipes.
“We’re passionate about Pret’s menu offering customers choice – be that a range of high-quality ingredients, lighter lines versus indulgent treats, we want to make sure our range accommodates the broad tastes and needs of our customers,” Bagshawe added.
The savoury and sweet bakery NPD rolled out by Pret on Wednesday (16 April) include:
- Sweet Chilli Chicken Baguette – British chicken breast in sweet chilli sauce with soya & coconut satay sauce, cucumber, coriander, and sesame seeds on a white baguette
- Artichoke Antipasti Baguette (Chef’s Special, vegan) – chargrilled artichokes and red peppers with roasted tomatoes, red tapenade, Kalamata olives, and basil on a stone-baked baguette
- Tuna Nicoise Baguette (Chef’s Special) – pole and line-caught tuna in Kalamata olive tapenade with a sliced free-range boiled egg, roasted tomatoes, and basil leaves on a stone-baked baguette
- Chicken Satay Wrap – sliced British chicken in soya & coconut satay sauce with carrot & mooli slaw, pickled carrot & cabbage, cucumber, spinach, mayo, and fresh coriander in a kibbled rye wrap
- Thai Style Avo & Slaw Wrap (vegan) – sweet chilli carrot & mooli slaw with avocado with edamame beans, cucumber, spinach, coriander and soy & coconut satay sauce in a kibbled rye wrap
- Chicken & Italian Prosciutto Toastie – British chicken breast and Italian Prosciutto with red tapenade, roasted tomatoes, sliced mozzarella, Italian matured cheese, and basil on seeded bloomer bread
- Meatless Meatball Hot Wrap (returning to airports) – meatless meatballs with red tapenade, chipotle ketchup, red onions, red pepper, and crispy onions in a flour tortilla
- Raspberry & White Chocolate Cookie – freshly baked cookie with white chocolate chunks and raspberry pieces
- Peach & Almond Bakewell (exclusive to stores outside of London) – crumbly pastry base with a layer of apricot jam, topped with frangipane, baked peaches, and flaked almonds
Criticism from several newspapers last year led to Pret cutting prices of six of its bestselling baguettes and sandwiches in February. The company has now confirmed it will freeze the cost of its Club Pret subscription service at £30 per month until at least the end of the year. Subscribers get 20% off the entire menu plus up to five barista-made drinks per day.
