It’s no tricks and all treats this year as the retailers unveil their spooky bakery line-ups ahead of Halloween 2017.

Kick off your day with spooky Pumpkin Crumpets complete with creepy Jack-O-Lantern faces (£1 per six pack). And, when party time approaches, Asda has a range of cakes from the Ghoulish Ghost Microwave Cake Kit (£4) to the Gravestone Traybake (£5). There’s also a Pumpkin Smash Cake, a chocolate sponge cake filled with sweets.

Marks & Spencer

Don’t worry, he won’t bite! Introducing Count Colin the Caterpillar Cake. M&S has given its famous critter a ghoulish makeover for Halloween featuring a chocolate sponge, chocolate filling and white chocolate face complete with vampire fangs. Count Colin is available in regular (£7) and mini (£2) variants.

Ghoulish party food dominates Tesco’s Halloween range. The Hubble Bubble Pumpkin Pasties (12-pack) are filled with pumpkin and chorizo, while Witches Fingers (12-pack) offer a cheesy treat with mozzarella coated in green breadcrumbs with an oozing tomato and herb centre. Mini Midnight Devil-Dogs (8-pack), comprising cocktail sausages in black buns, round off the savoury range while Mini Spooky Custard Slices (16 pack) provide a sweet option. All are £2 or three for £5.

Krispy Kreme

The limited-edition Krispy Skremes are a four-strong range of doughnuts. The Creepy Cobweb is dipped in chocolate icing and filled with the signature Kreme; the Evil Eyeball is a ring doughnut topped with white icing and red veins; while the Spooky Sprinkles features chocolate icing. The Monster Mummy is filled with brownie batter. They’re all available as a dozen, pre-order only, or in a Krispy Skremes tower. Individual doughnuts will be in selected Tesco, Morrisons and service stations from Friday 27October.

While it’s not inherently spooky, Waitrose’s NPD features flavour of the month pumpkin. The Spiced Pumpkin Sponge Pudding (£3.50)is a pumpkin and cinnamon spiced sponge made with muscovado sugar and pumpkin purée. It is topped with spiced pumpkin sauce.
