Vegan snacking brand Pep & Lekker has overhauled its portfolio with a new look, improved recipes and NPD.
It has added sweet snacks to its range with Apple & Cinnamon and Cacao & Coconut variants. Both are made from apple puree, sunflower seeds, linseeds, chicory root fibre, chia seeds, rice protein, buckwheat flakes, rice flour, hemp seeds and sunflower oil with the addition of either cinnamon or desiccated coconut and cacao powder. Like the rest of Pep & Lekker’s range, both are gluten-free.
Available in Ocado, Planet Organic and As Nature Intended from July, as well as a range of independent health food stores and farm shops, the 30g pouches will have an rsp of £2.40.
Meanwhile, the brand’s existing flavours – Fennel & Chia Seed, Rosemary & Hemp Seed and Cumin & Linseed – have revamped recipes to increase protein and reduce sugar. Pep & Lekker has also removed sesame seeds from its entire portfolio, making them free from the major 14 allergens.
“Whilst overjoyed with the success we’ve enjoyed in our first year of trading in nutritiously empowered snacks, we realised that there was so much more we could do to broaden our appeal yet further,” said co-founder Susan Gafsen.
In addition to the recipe changes and NPD, Pep & Lekker has overhauled its branding and rolled out fully compostable pouches which are made from a bio-based compostable laminate by packaging manufacturer Tipa.
