Sainsbury’s has recalled its in-store bakery all-butter croissants because they contain almond filling that is not declared on packaging.
The recall is for single in-store bakery all-butter croissant and in-store bakery all butter croissant two-pack, and affects products with best-before dates up to and including 26 September 2018.
The product contains an almond filling, making it a possible health risk for anyone with a nut allergy.
“We are recalling Sainsbury’s in-store bakery all butter croissants due to a labelling error,” said a Sainsbury’s spokesperson. “We are urgently investigating with our supplier following a report that the product may contain almonds.
“We’re asking customers who have an allergy to almonds to not consume the product and return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store, where they will receive a full refund. No other Sainsbury’s products are affected and we’re sorry for any concern and inconvenience this may cause.”
The retailer has also contacted relevant allergy support organisations and issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
