Margate-based Speciality Breads has introduced its Kentish Huffkins to a new café situated in the bookshop Waterstones.
The brand new café, based in Maidstone, launched last weekend (Saturday 8 October) with a day of coffee, books and family entertainment, and customers sampling the locally-sourced menu.
The Kentish Huffkins will be used alongside the soup of the day option as Waterstones looks to champion all things local into the new café.
Simon Cannell, the new managing director of Speciality Breads, said: “It’s a real honour to have our Huffkins in a prestigious retailer like Waterstones. Their dedication to using locally-sourced food and supporting artisan producers is a massive credit to them and we’re over the moon to be part of this new exciting café menu.
“Our Kentish Huffkins are great-tasting, versatile and a little piece of this county’s incredible history so we’re confident they will be a big hit with customers.”
Bookshop manager Rachel Johns felt that a menu with Fairtrade, organic, locally-sourced ingredients would be warmly welcomed by its customers.
“It’s a joy to be able to champion local independent businesses in this way and we are really looking forward to celebrating the café and the menu with our loyal customers,” she said.
