Square Pie has launched a range of frozen mini pies into Waitrose stores across the country.
Proper Little Pies, which are all under 200 calories, come in three variants – Chestnut Mushroom & Borlotti Bean, Spinach, Goat’s Cheese & Sweet Potato and Steak & Ale – with an rsp of £3.50.
The vegetarian chestnut mushroom pie contains borlotti beans in a vintage cheddar sauce with a crumble top; the goat’s cheese pie, which is also vegetarian, contains spinach and roasted sweet potato; the steak & ale also has onions, carrots and leeks, wrapped in a flaky pastry.
Every pack contains four Proper Little Pies targeting those looking for a snack, a lighter lunch or party occasions. They cook from frozen in 20 minutes.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Waitrose on our delicious Proper Little Pies, consumers will get the full pie experience they have come to know and love with our Square Pies but all for under 200 calories,” said Square Pie founder Martin Dewey.
Mini is in for gourmet company Square Pie as it opened a Pick ‘n’ Mix pie bar in Bristol earlier this year, which allowed shoppers to personalise meals with a choice of six mini pies and dipping sauces.
