The London Tea Company has launched a new range of ‘ethical’ teas, in response to the growing market for speciality teas.
According to research, the year on year growth in value of speciality tea and fruit & herbal infusions is up 6% and 5% respectively. This is compared to the decline in value for the mainstream tea sector, down -5% (Kantar World Panel, 52 w/e 20th July 2014).
Matthew Wilson, UK national account manager for The London Tea Company said: “With the growth in speciality tea and fruit & herbal infusions showing no signs of slowing down, it has become vital for cafes and coffee shops to be able to supply consumers with the drinks they expect.
“The London Tea Company has developed a range of blends which allow your business to offer the flavours consumers are seeking. From standard teas, such as London Breakfast, Earl Grey and Sencha Green to the more adventurous blends such as White Tea Pear Tatin, Raspberry Ginger & Vanilla and Peach & Rhubarb.”
There has also been an increase in Fairtrade sales, with year on year growth up 14% according to the Fairtrade Foundation.
The company’s products products are Fairtrade certified, and cover enveloped tea bags, biodegradable pyramid bags and loose leaf teas, in order to give businesses a choice in what to stock.
The tea company has used brightly coloured packaging to make the tea stand out on shelves.
