Tesco has unveiled a major upgrade to its breakfast on-the-go offering with new filled croissants, rolls, wraps, and paninis.

The retailer is trialling seven different hot bakery items for a limited time across 39 of its stores nationwide. The range has been developed to offer greater choice, convenience, and value throughout the morning, noted Tesco.

The line-up includes:

  • Beechwood Smoked Bacon Brioche Style Roll (rsp: £3.50)
  • Cumberland Pork Sausage Brioche Style Roll (rsp: £3.50)
  • Sausage, Bacon & Scrambled Eggs Wrap (rsp: £4.25)
  • Smoked Ham & Mature Cheddar Croissant (rsp: £3.50)
  • Smoked Ham & Mature Cheddar Panini (rsp: £4.25)
  • Mozzarella, Tomato & Pesto Panini (rsp: £4.25)
  • Tuna, Cheese & Onion Melt Panini (rsp: £4.25)

Tesco customers can purchase one of these bakery choices as part of the £5.50 hot meal deal with a Clubcard, pairing it with a side such as a fruit pot plus a drink like a chilled coffee, smoothie, or juice.

Outside of this meal deal, the supermarket is also introducing a fresh range of chilled breakfast-to-go products across large stores, including egg pots, egg bites, overnight oats, muesli, and granola with yoghurt.

Co-op has also recently enhanced its meal deal selection with new globally inspired bakery mains such as an Italian Mortadella & Mascarpone Focaccia, a Beef Burrito Wrap with Birria Dip, and a Katsu Chicken Sub Roll.

Asda has unveiled its own Beef Birria Wrap among other main options in its newly launched £5 premium meal deal.

The premium sandwich market is clearly having a moment. Rachel Smith, head of innovation at Greencore, noted how it has been demonstrating exceptional growth with a compound annual growth rate of 29% since 2022, compared to just 3% for standard sandwiches over the same period [Circana data to 25 January 2026].

As well as brands like Which Wich, Jersey Mike’s Subs, and Sandwich Sandwich revealing significant plays for UK retail expansion, food-to-go suppliers are stepping up production such as Around Noon, which recently secured multi-million pound funding.
