The Bertinet Bakery has been named Waitrose Local and Regional Supplier of the Year for 2013.
The award was presented at the Waitrose Supplier Conference in Reading last month.
Richard Bertinet, founder and BBC Food Champion, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition from Waitrose. Working with them over the last 11 months has enabled us to make our breads available to a much wider market than would otherwise be possible.
“We look forward to growing our relationship with Waitrose and our wholesale business more generally in 2014.”
Established in 2011, the bakery currently supplies seven Waitrose branches including Bath, Cheltenham, Chipping Sodbury, Cirencester, Stroud, Wells and Bristol’s Westbury Park branch.
Tracey Marshall, Waitrose local and regional product manager, added that the bakery’s breads, introduced in the Bath branch in 2012, were instantly popular with customers.
“They are a great supplier to work with, even offering training about the products to our branch partners,” she said. “We are sure they will continue to be a great success.”
