Wrexham-based Village Bakery has gained listings for five more of its products at Waitrose following the success of its existing range.
The latest products to launch into Waitrose stores are pancakes in buttermilk, blueberry and chocolate flavours, a sourdough and five-grain crumpets.
Village Bakery said the deal was a “massive boost”, having started out supplying just one Waitrose Store in Menai Bridge and now having lines in 220 stores nationwide.
Village Bakery managing director Robin Jones said the new order was a testament to the quality of its products and skill of its staff.
“It’s a massive vote of confidence in the Village Bakery by Waitrose and it’s part of our ambition to take the Village Bakery brand to every retailer nationally,” said Jones.
“It’s the result of 12 months of hard work, developing the products, developing the relationship and the distribution. The response from Waitrose customers has been fantastic, we’ve had nothing but positive feedback.”
The listings follow the business’ two award wins at the 2018 Baking Industry Awards, where it was crowned winner in the Free-from Bakery Product category for its Made without Wheat Belgian Chocolate Twists and Alan Jones was awarded for his Outstanding Contribution.
