Cornish pasty- and cake-maker Warrens Bakery has launched its second Christmas pasty collection - the Port & Stilton pasty - following the re-introduction of the mince pie pasty.
The Port & Stilton pasty will available from today (21 November) at Warrens’ 50 stores across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Bristol at £3.25. The new product is also available to purchase via its website.
The new cheeseboard-inspired pasty is handmade, using a rough puff pastry, and filled with ruby Port, Stilton, potato, turnip, onion and Warrens’ special seasoning.
The Port and Stilton pasty is a limited edition that will be available to the public until mid-January next year.
Warrens claimed this product was a first in the artisan baking industry and said it wanted to develop a product that complemented the existing festive range.
Jason Jobling, master baker at Warren’s Bakery, said that after the success of the mince pie pasty, the pressure was certainly on to deliver another original flavour for Christmas.
“We’re delighted with the Port and Stilton Pasty. We took our inspiration from the classic cheeseboard, which so often graces tables at this time of year and, after some extensive development, the Port and Stilton Pasty was born, he said.
