Warrens Bakery, the Cornwall-based bakery, has released a limited-edition mincemeat pasty for Christmas.

The cocktail-sized pasties are filled with mincemeat and custard before being hand-crimped and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.

They went on sale across Warrens’ 29 Cornwall, Devon and Somerset stores on 14 November.

Jason Jobling, director and chief operating officer at Warrens, said: “We just wanted to do something different.”

He added Warrens had made various mince pies in the past but that it was difficult to compete against the many supermarket offerings. He hoped the fact the pasty was a little different would attract customers, while allowing Warrens to celebrate its Cornish heritage.

Warrens Bakery is over 150 years old and describes itself as ‘The Oldest Cornish Pasty Maker in the World’. It sells traditional Cornish pasties and saffron cakes, along with artisan bread and other sweet treats.
