Welsh baker Tan y Castell has launched a new range of festive Welsh cakes and Bara Brith for the Christmas season.
Tan y Castell Bakery, based in Narbeth, has combined its award-winning Welsh cakes with handmade Pembrokeshire mincemeat to create a flavoured cake. The mincemeat is based on a traditional recipe which includes currants and sultanas, apple, orange and lemon peel and a blend of warming winter spices.
The Festive Bara Brith is a twist on its 2015 Great Taste Award-winning product topped with a glug of brandy.
Tan y Castell founder Paul Mear said: “We are excited to introduce our new festive lines to the public. We have been testing and nibbling these creations all year, so finally getting to share them with everyone is great! I must say the Festive Bara Brith is just delicious.”
Both products are available nationally through The Co-operative and in independent retailers across Wales.
The Welsh cakes are offered in a six-pack that retails for £1.29 and the Bara Brith is available in a 450g loaf that retails at around £2.80.
