Scottish Bakers has unveiled that its annual World Championship Scotch Pie Awards will held at the Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld on 9 January 2018.
Running for the 19th consecutive year, the awards, which are sponsored by Bako North Western Group, aim to highlight bakers and butchers creating high-quality artisan pastry products.
Bakers will have until Tuesday 31 October to submit their pie creations via the World Championship Scotch Pie Awards website, and judging will take place on Wednesday 15 November 2017.
Products should be delivered to Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline between 9:00am and 11:30am.
The awards have been split into 11 categories, which include the return of the Macaroni Pie:
- Scotch Pie
- Football Pies & Savouries

- Steak Pie
- Sausage Roll
- Cold Savoury
- Hot Savoury
- Vegetarian Savoury
- Haggis Savoury

“The macaroni pie is a unique Scottish product and, last year, we wanted to recognise this,” said head judge Ian Nelson. “The new category was so popular that we have brought it back again.”
In the run-up to the awards, industry trade body Scottish Bakers is urging bakers to post a pie selfie of their perfect pie moment. Selfies should be posted via the Scotch Pie Awards’ Facebook and Twitter pages. The best picture will be announced when Scottish Bakers reveals the winner of the Scotch Pie Awards.
“For the first time ever, we are asking pie lovers around the world to show exactly how they like to enjoy their pie by sharing their pie pics, said Scottish Bakers president Craig McPhie. “Simply follow @ScotchPieAwards on Facebook and Twitter and post your pic.”
