A Yorkshire-born baker has launched a range of dairy- and gluten-free Rocky Road cake bars that are now available across the UK.
The range, which is distributed by Suma, consists of three flavours: OOOriginal, OOOrange and MMMinty, all featuring chunks of biscuit and marshmallow encased in a dairy-free chocolate mixture.
At nearly 70 years old, Mummy Meagz’s founder (real name Meagan Boyle) is embarking on a new career in confectionery.
Already co-owner and head baker at Blondes Coffee Shop in Cottingham, which went fully vegan in 2017, the reviews received for her baked goods prompted her to embark on a new business venture.
“Everyone thought it was impossible for a gluten- and dairy-free chocolate bar to be truly scrumptious”, said Boyle. “But I was determined to create free-from treats that are full of indulgence.”
A Crowdfunder campaign to help get the bars into commercial production raised almost £11,000 and secured 10,000 advance orders.
Mummy Meagz’s Rocky Road bars are 55g and will be available wholesale from September (rrp £1.99).
