Family-owned Talerddig Bakery, founded in 1925, is selling its business, equipment, freehold and fleet of vehicles.

The bakery, based in Llanbrynmair in Wales, is being sold as a business with its freehold site, equipment and delivery vehicles for £225,000.

It supplies bread to shops, retailers, hotels, cafés and directly to consumers through three shops in Powys and Ceredigion.

Estate agents and property surveyors, Morris, Marshall and Poole, are acting as agents for owner Steve Jones.

“Talerddig Bakery is a well-known business in Wales,” said Kathryn Evans, chartered surveyor at Morris, Marshall and Poole. “Anyone driving along the main A470 will see the bakery at the side of the road in Talerddig or will have seen its bread, cakes and other products in shops, cafés or homes throughout the area.”

The business was set up by Tom and Margaret Lewis at the current site in 1925. It was then taken over and expanded into a new bakehouse, which opened in 1979.

It was then passed down to the Thomas family, who had their own baking heritage from nearby Machynlleth. They sold the business to Steve Jones in 2013.

“The business has so much more potential and we have expanded and grown it to the point where someone new coming in can take it forward again as it heads towards its 100th anniversary,” said Jones.

The business currently employs 20 full- and part-time staff, which includes bakers, shop assistants and delivery drivers.
